What does this word mean?
According to dictionaries, passion is a very powerful feeling of love, hate, anger, sexual attraction and many other emotions. But let’s be honest, we can’t define this word through a simple definition, as it is different for the individual.
For someone, it can mean love towards a person yet, to others, this could mean a devotion to some kind of sport, art work or your favourite musician.
However, one of my greatest passions in life is the possession of a creative mind. A principle so simple, yet so infinite in its nature; the ability to design. Whether it’s a piece of literature, a photograph or a musical composition, it is our given right as humans to explore this; therefore, highlighting the importance of our own creativity.
What’s more, creativity and culture go hand in hand. This means that with creativity comes history, culture rich influences that unify the world with uniqueness. The demand for our own individuality is encouraged now, more than ever before.
So, let’s stop for a second and think about that.
What would be something that you would consider creative within your life?
Producing a drawing? Singing along to your favourite songs?
Is there something that you are so passionate about, but lack the conviction to follow it through?
I can tell you that I myself have been through this moments more than a thousand times. However, the answer how to overcome this, the way myself and others succeed is simple, passion and courageousness.
When you are passionate about something, you devote more time to things, which ultimately is how you improve.
Everyone one of us has our creative potential, all you need is the courage to try.
If you’re looking for the voice of encouragement, look to your idols and understand the steps that they took.
Do you think Ed Sheeran became famous in a day? Absolutely not!
Did Muhammad Ali throw one punch and suddenly earned the title of ‘The Greatest’?
I mean, he was exceptional, but it in no way immediate. Tap into your inner creative self, something that you truly feel passionate about, go to explore what it means to be creative in your world.
I can guarantee it will not always be easy and perhaps you may get frustrated, but if you really have the passion for something, I promise you that you will find a way to succeed. If not, I’d happily help you find your creative spark.
But Josh, what did you do to accomplish this?
I have been playing guitar sporadically for four months, and I’m pretty good at a few of my favourite songs. The hardest part for me was getting started, but now, it’s all I can think about and the first think I aim to do (once all my responsibilities are completed). I took each day as a new opportunity to work towards minor goals such as “Today, I’m gonna learn to play Candy by Paolo Nutini, but this time, just a new chord”. Take the fact that I hadn’t even touched a guitar for many years, within a week, I was able to play my first song ever. Each day, dedicate 20 minutes developing your artistic talents by taking those small steps towards your creative passions. Whether it’s through research, design or practicing your skills, this tiny amount of time will allow you to explore your hunger for self-innovation.
You have demonstrated you are capable of taking these steps to bettering yourself as you are here, devoting your time to learning English with us. So, take the bull by the horns and take further actions. I am excited to hear from you and learn about your achievements.
